Early Life: From a Small Town Outside Cairo

Mostafa grew up in a small town just outside Cairo, Egypt. He ran his own gym there and worked as a trainer, building his physique largely on his own.

There was nobody local who could coach him for competitions. So he learned the hard way — through training, dieting and showing up at contests to test himself.

His first big stage came in 2014, at the IFBB Junior World Championships, where he won his junior class. That trip changed the direction of his life. 🌍

The owner of Gold’s Gym in Kuwait City spotted his potential and offered him a coaching job. Mostafa took it and relocated to Kuwait — the same city where Big Ramy had launched his own rise a few years earlier.

The Pro Card: Amateur Olympia Kuwait 2018

In Kuwait, Mostafa’s career took off. In 2018 he entered the Amateur Olympia Kuwait — the same event Ramy had won in 2012 on his way to the pro ranks.

Mostafa won the super-heavyweight class and then the overall title. With it came his IFBB Pro card, and a ticket to test himself against the best in America. 🏆

Pro Debut: Straight Onto the Podium (2019–2020)

Mostafa’s pro debut came at the 2019 Indy Pro — and he nearly won it. He placed third, behind winner Steve Kuclo and Akim Williams, announcing himself as a serious new threat in the Open class.

Later that season he took fifth at the Tampa Pro, in a line-up won by the veteran Dexter Jackson. The size — especially those enormous legs — was already turning heads. 💪

In 2020 he placed fourth at the New York Pro, behind Iain Valliere. But health problems then kept him sidelined for much of the rest of that year, and his momentum stalled.

The Workhorse Season: Seven Shows and an Olympia Debut (2021)

Mostafa came back in 2021 with one of the busiest schedules in the division: seven pro shows in a single season.

The podium finishes stacked up — third at the New York Pro, third at the California Pro and third at the Puerto Rico Pro, where fellow Egyptian Mohamed Shaaban was building his own run towards the Olympia.

He added sixth at the Chicago Pro, fifth at the Texas Pro and ninth at the Arnold Classic. The points he piled up earned him his first Mr. Olympia invitation — no win required.

On the Olympia stage in Orlando, he placed 13th in his debut. A top-15 finish at the biggest show in bodybuilding, earned the long way round. 🔥

2022: Two Wins — and the Olympia He Had to Miss

If 2021 was about proving he belonged, 2022 was about winning. In June, Mostafa took the Puerto Rico Pro title — his first pro victory — ahead of Theo Leguerrier in second and Andrea Muzi in fourth.

Three weeks later he did it again, winning the Orlando Pro ahead of Andrea Presti and Phil Clahar. Two wins in a month, and a direct ticket to the 2022 Mr. Olympia.

But the Olympia itself slipped away. In his own announcement before the show, Mostafa confirmed he was withdrawing, putting his long-term health first. As he later explained, a virus had compromised his kidneys, and pushing through another prep would have risked too much. 🩺

It was a painful call — the form of his life, left at home. But it was the decision that kept his career alive.

2023: The Vancouver Win and His Best Olympia

Healthy again, Mostafa opened 2023 with two runner-up finishes: second at the Toronto Pro Supershow behind Iain Valliere, and second at the Orlando Pro behind Phil Clahar.

Close was not enough — under the current rules, only a win qualifies you. So in July he travelled to Canada and won the Vancouver Pro, his third pro title, to seal his Olympia place the hard way. 🏆

At the 2023 Mr. Olympia in Orlando, he placed 11th — the best Olympia finish of his career, and proof the comeback was complete.

2024–2025: Still in the Fight

In 2024 Mostafa returned to Toronto and placed sixth at the Toronto Pro Supershow. He chose to sit out his Vancouver title defence that summer, and without a win there was no Olympia appearance that year.

The 2025 season took him across two continents. He placed fourth at the Tsunami Nutrition Showdown in France, behind Sergey Danilov, Quinton Eriya and Roberto Buonomo.

He then took fourth again at the Pharlabs Mexico Pro, in a top four headed by Tonio Burton, Regan Grimes and Shaun Clarida. No win — but two top-four finishes against elite fields. 💪

Hassan Mostafa in 2026: Two Arnold Stages

Mostafa’s 2026 season put him on the sport’s second-biggest stage — twice. His prep for the Arnold Classic was followed closely, right down to the seven-meal, roughly 2,700-calorie day of eating he shared with fans.

In Columbus in March, he placed ninth at the 2026 Arnold Classic, in a line-up won by Andrew Jacked ahead of Nick Walker and Hadi Choopan.

Three weeks later in Birmingham, he placed eighth at the Arnold Classic UK — again won by Jacked — finishing just behind Abou Konate in a compact, high-quality field. 🌍

Eight years after turning pro, and after a health scare that once kept him off the Olympia stage, Hassan Mostafa is still entering the biggest shows in the sport — and still chasing the win that takes him back to the Olympia.
