His father was the local chief in the police department and had served in World War II as a Hauptfeldwebel after willingly joining the Nazi Party in 1938.
He grew up in a Christian family who visited Mass every Sunday. His father had a preference for his elder son, Meinhard, over Arnold. His inclination was “strong and blatant”, which stemmed from unfounded doubt that Arnold was not his organic child.
Early Bodybuilding Career of Arnold
At 14, Arnold Schwarzenegger trained at a gym in Graz, where he also visited the local movie theaters to see his bodybuilding idols, such as Reg Park, Steve Reeves, and Johnny Weissmuller, on the big screen to inspire himself.
The costs of being a member of a sports school were too high, so he provided his own sports room in the basement of his home. But in 1961, he met Kurt Marnul, the previous Mr. Austria.
Marnul was mush impressed by Arnold’s body and asked him to teach in the Athletic Union in Graz. Arnold began his great and comprehensive training.
The film industry helped move Schwarzenegger’s obsession with the USA and the future he felt expected him there. Getting to his new country was an issue for him.
Schwarzenegger found his answer in Joe Weider, the man behind the International Federation of Body Building, an association that sponsored competitions such as Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia.

Arnold, who had migrated to the United States in 1968, helped move the sport into the mainstream, culminating in the 1977 documentary Pumping Iron, which tells the tale of Arnold’s support of his Mr. Olympia title.

He was preparing for his role in Conan, and he got into such good shape because of the running, horse riding, and sword practicing that he determined he wanted to win the Mr. Olympia competition one last time in 1980.
