Early Life and Start in Bodybuilding

Angelov grew up in Bulgaria and found lifting at a young age, drawn in by the muscle magazines of the era. 💪

He tried wrestling at school before weights took over, and the gym soon became the centre of his life.

As an amateur he worked his way up through the lighter classes, competing at the World Amateur Championships in 2015 and 2016.

Those early seasons built the dense, conditioned physique that would later carry him through long pro campaigns.

Turning Pro in 2018

Angelov earned his pro card in 2018 — by his own account, at a qualifier in Coventry, in the United Kingdom. 🏆

Just months later he stepped onto a pro stage for the first time, at the Romania Muscle Fest Pro.

He finished 5th there as a rookie, against men who had already stood on the Olympia stage.

It was a statement debut: he belonged at this level, even if the wins would take time.

The Long Climb: 2019–2021

The next three seasons were all about learning and staying in the mix.

He placed 16th at Romania in 2019, then bounced back with two runner-up finishes in 2020 — at the British Grand Prix and at Romania.

That same year he briefly tried Classic Physique, finishing 6th at the Europa Pro, before returning to the 212 division where he clearly belonged.

In 2021 he added a 3rd place at the EVLS Prague Pro and a 4th at Romania, plus 6th at the Europa Pro.

No trophies yet — but the consistency was building toward something bigger. 📈

Everything clicked in the autumn of 2022. 🍂

At the Arnold Classic UK in Birmingham, Angelov pushed all the way to 2nd in the 212 class, beaten only by Naser Mohamed after a close battle.

Weeks later he won the Europa Pro Championships in Alicante, beating Dobromir Delev to the title — and with it, his ticket to the Olympia.

He did not stop there. Days after Alicante, he won the Romania Muscle Fest Pro as well, completing a remarkable double.

His Olympia debut followed in Las Vegas that December, where he finished 12th in a stacked 212 field won by Shaun Clarida.

Home Hero: Balkan Grand Prix and Romania

From 2023 onward, Angelov became the man to beat on his home patch. 🇧🇬

He won the Balkan Grand Prix Pro in Bulgaria in 2023, finished 3rd at Romania that year, and placed 11th at the 2023 Olympia.

A 9th-place finish at the 2023 Dubai Pro rounded out a busy season.

In 2024 he was runner-up at both the Europa Pro in London and the Balkan Grand Prix in Plovdiv — then closed the year by winning Romania again, this time ahead of Ahmad Ashkanani.

That victory booked his return to the Olympia stage for 2025.

What Makes Angelov Stand Out

Angelov is not the flashiest name in the 212 class, and that is part of his appeal.

His strength is balance: a full upper body, sharp conditioning, and a physique that holds up across a long season.

He has also shown rare staying power, competing at a high level across eight pro seasons without ever leaving the division’s top tier for long.
