Ronnie Coleman is an IFBB professional bodybuilder and a police officer. He is best known for winning the prestigious Mr. Olympia title eight times and is generally admitted as one of the greatest bodybuilders in history.

Early Life of Ronnie Coleman

Ronnie Coleman bodybuilder was born on May 13, 1964, in the Pelican State, Louisiana, America. He was brought up by a single mother beside a younger brother and two sisters.

As a child, Ronnie joined a high-level playing football during high school; his usually bulky frame supported his power through others his age, and he became known for his impressive figure.

After becoming stronger in the gym, Ronnie’s performance as a soccer player improved even further.

After getting his degree in Accounting, Ronnie made the move to Texas, he thought that there would be more job chances in the neighboring state.

Ronnie knew that he was designed for bigger things, and started searching for other professions.

During his research for other works, Ronnie found an opening at the Arlington, Texas police station in the paper. Soon after, he had applied and successfully gained his new job at the age of 25 in 1989.

Ronnie proceeded to train in the gym, training to fit weight lifting around his new lifestyle in the police force; luckily, the police station was equipped with a special gym.

Bodybuilding Career of Ronnie Coleman

Ronnie signed up to the Metro flex gym, where he was introduced to the gym owner, Brian Dobson.

A few months under the training of Brian Dobson, he turned up at the 1990 Mr. Texas show as an unknown amateur.

After winning the Mr. Texas amateur competition, Ronnie competed at the 1990 NPC Championships and won third place, which was not good enough for him. So he took a step back and made the important changes to his physique so he could be as competitive as possible.

In 1991 Ronnie came back and won the World Amateur Championships in Poland, he also got his Pro Card with a physique that was worthy to compete with the best.

In the 1992 Chicago Pro Championships, Ronnie was up against beasts like Kevin Levrone, Bob Paris, and Milos Sarcev. He took 11th place but it was a learning experience and could only move him to get better.

Ronnie Coleman Mr. Olympia 1998 was his first Olympia title, after having 9th place the previous year where Dorian Yates was Mr. Olympia.

He defeated runner-up Flex Wheeler and went on to do this a few times, but he also knocked several other best competitors.

Among the elite professionals that he defeated during those eight years include Kevin Levrone, Shawn Ray, Lee Priest, Dexter Jackson, Gunther Schlierkamp, Dennis James, Jay Cutler, Ernie Taylor Markus Ruhl, Nasser El Sonbaty, Chris Cormier, Gustavo Badell, Melvin Anthony, Victor Martinez, and more

His reign remained from 1998 to 2005, tying him with Lee Haney for most victories at Mr. Olympia, which still stands to this day.

No one can survive on top forever and Coleman was deposed at the 2006 Mr. Olympia by future 4 times champion Jay Cutler. He did fight once again in 2007, but it was clear that his time was over.

Ronnie took 4th position at his last Olympia and also retired from the sport, a very emotional day for fans and the Olympia. Ronnie Coleman now is retired with maximum Olympia tittles.

In 1998, Ronnie met personal trainer Rouaida Christine Achkar at a sports show in Paris. They got married in 2007 but ultimately departed.

In 2016, Ronnie met Susan Williamson who was also a personal trainer. They live in Arlington Texas and have four children.

Ronnie Coleman is not only loved because of what he achieved on stage but the hype methods he used before a big lift, such as calling “yeah buddy”, lightweight baby” and nothing but a peanut,” went viral with the fitness and bodybuilding community.
